What we love about Mirjam Flateau
German-born and Paris-based, Mirjam Flateau, better known as Mija, is a multi-dimensional creative with a background in media design, creative direction, and photography. Her career began as Senior Editorial Designer and Creative Director for renowned magazines, where she honed her craft and discovered her entrepreneurial spirit. Now Mirjam has her expert eye focused on styling and art direction for brands and her Instagram page, @mija_mija, where she embodies the perfect cultural blend of Parisian style with a German twist and openly shares her life and passions.
Mirjam's creations blend her minimal meets laid-back aesthetic with the traditional backdrop of her Parisian loft and the city's historic surroundings. Whether she's enjoying a ride in a vintage muscle car or exploring Paris, Mirjam isn't afraid to look at everyday life through a different lens.
Our collaboration
Finding common ground with Mirjam Flateau came naturally to THE RAYY. Noémie Arrigo, our Creative Director, instantly connected with the content creator over starkly similar backgrounds, but we quickly discovered that our collaboration would go much deeper than that. Mirjam has long been drawn to mirrors as a creative element in her photography. For THE RAYY, mirrors represent a new dimension and a door to an augmented reality. Mirrors are hand-set on our creations to reinvent the role that precious stones have traditionally held in fine jewelry design. When the sun shines upon the mirror’s surface, a hidden message and an added layer of meaning can be revealed, much like in Mirjam’s work.
Mirjam also aligns with our passion for sleek, minimalist design when styling her photographs. We like to call this process “design by subtraction,” an aesthetic in which less is more.

So, what’s Mirjam's hidden message?
Mirjam Flateau chose to customize her FACETS ring with the ‘WILD as a hurricane’ portrait by Blanca Miró Skoudy, sharing that her head is always a flurry with creative ideas and thoughts, but her passion for her work keeps her calm and focused. For Mirjam, it’s the multidimensionality of our personalities that ultimately makes us who we are. “Everyone has different sides, all of them together, even the hidden ones, make us our own character in our stories so unique.”
